The Humane Society of Yuma is a non-governmental 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The Humane Society of Yuma depends on private funding (i.e. donations, grants, bequests) to carry out its mission. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit (Federal Tax Identification Number : 86-6053617), contributions to HSOY are tax deductible.

The Humane Society of Yuma also provides animal control and sheltering services to Yuma County, the City of Yuma, and the City of Somerton. HSOY also provides animal sheltering services to the City of San Luis and the Independent Nation of the Cocopah.
