What to do (and not to do) about ferals

The right approach to feral cats

You may want to volunteer with Planned Pethood to help trap cats.  If there is a colony of feral cats in your area that does not have a caretaker you can become their caretaker. Feral cat caretakers practice Trap-Neuter-Return, feed, provide shelter and monitor the cats for any problems.

The Wrong approach

Killing the cats: Against the law:  State Statute 13-2910

Relocating the cats:  moves the problem to another part of the City and allows new cats to fill vacuum left by the other one

Feed the cats - While those who feed feral cats have the best intentions, feeding without sterilization measures, only leads to a future population increases.
