What's Happening at HSOY
Mr Daniel Morin a Truck Driver who is not from the area was in town picking up a load with his travel partner a pit bull named Duke, Daniel was letting Duke go to the bathroom when Duke ran off because of a jet flying over head startled him.
This past weekend we had the pleasure of hosting the students of 4th Ave Jr High as they show cased the shelter pet portraits they have spent weeks painting.
Mark Lavin, a 17 year old Eagle Scout, came to the shelter a few weeks ago and said that he wanted to set up a donation drive for his Eagle project. He asked for a list of the supplies the shelter needed most and then got to work. What happened next was truly amazing!
The Palms RV Resort transformed into a spectacular casino for this year's Critter Country: Casino Night! Guests played games and bid on silent & live auction items, listened to live music provided by Playin' Country, were dazzled by an illusionist, and more!

During this Holiday Season here at the Shelter the pets who did not get a chance to be in a home for Christmas got to at least open presents that were donated. We had stockings hanging in the Kennels which were filled to the top!
Pioneer Title Agency was very generous this Christmas to the Humane Society of Yuma.
In preparation for 2017 festivities, the Humane Society of Yuma is asking its residents and visitors to think about their family pets. New Year’s Eve is the second most common time that pets go missing due to the loud noises of gunshots and fireworks.
The Up & Coming Yuma County 4h group made 30 blankets and 15 braided cat toys, brought them to the shelter and delivered them to the pets!
